El Capitan wiped out mail

Yes, the first time you open/run Photos it converts the iPhoto library to run on Photos.

What I don't know is, once having moved to Photos, what you can safely delete from the Pictures library. I shall probably leave well alone unless I am really running short of storage on the hard disk

Yosemite did that, but did at least keep iPhoto which I continue to use. No way of deleting Photos as far as I can tell. So does El Captain delete iPhotos completely or is it still available to use?

iPhotos is still there on my machine. But I have not tried using it as I am biting the bullet and trying to 'love' Photos!!!

Does anyone know if iWeb will still run on El Capitan? Last time I upgraded to Yosemite, it removed/moved or deleted it, I could not find it.

Also as for Photos, I can't drag and drop pictures onto iWeb form it.

treat yourself to a copy of lightroom. Far better than iPhoto.

And that day may well coincide with me ditching Apple altogether.

it's not as if iPhoto is actually that great :nenau

i've been thinking about switching from Aperture to Lightroom, but the whole Creative Cloud thing puts me off. i know it's available as a stand alone product, but tAdobe have kept some features for the subscription model.

Its the organisation of photos that I love about iPhoto. I do also have Aperture, but how much longer Apple support this is anyones guess.

I use the stand alone version of LR. Organising photos is very easy, the SmugMug plugin is brilliant.. the Nik (now google) plugin for black and white conversion is superb, it does take a little time to learn but there are some great tutorials online.
