Electric clothing and magnetic field worries

Yes, I did'nt get the fun part. (My english is not that perfect.) Please explain.

And it's true; the doc said it's becaus of the computer.

:) Liv.

Liv...it`s not a skit at your English ( which is very good )

The humour was in the associating of rashes from being at a computer for a long time with the amount of freely available ummm 'relaxation material' via the Internet...... :D :D :D

Thank you guys - I got it now! :)

I'll tell him to keep both ends on the keyboard! ;)
...but I wonder if that is common..? Oh well, it's his keyboard.

And I learned something today:
Do not buy a used keyboard from a guy! :D

;) Liv.

Was that meant to read 'hands' or 'ends'?

Its Dangerous on all sorts of levels certainly more so than electric vests or mobile phones.....maybe thats just my experience :D :D

But hey it might be risky......but I like the odds. ;)

Electricity passing through a cable produces a magnetic field- FACT
Overhead power cables produce considerable magnetic fields- FACT
Do these fields damage health- Not Proven :nenau

I do worry about these issues such that I never sleep with an electric blanket on.
However, I am getting B***dy cold blasting around in freezing temps, so contrary to my wishes I have purchased a heated vest. I switch it on and can see a compass needle deviate slighty.

Now the point is, that if I am cold, then I am more likely to make a mistake and kill myself- so why should I worry about tesla (or whatever they are called).

What are the thoughts of any electrical or medical experts on this wise site

:D

I've heard it all now! This is a wind up isn't it?

P.S. riding a motorcycle is dangerous - FACT
P.P.S turn off all lights in your in you house now, or you will die!

No its certainly not a wind up
There are people who blame leukaemias and other carcinomas on excessive electromagnetic forces
And when I mean excessive I do not mean normal background earth's magnetic forces !
:D

There is too much paranoia and pseudo science around these days!

The carcinogenic effects that you refer are blamed on very high level alternating electromagnetic fields and is not proven - most of it appears to be media hysteria either to sell more newspapers or create good TV.

The wires in heated clothing are carrying d.c. current and the non-alternating magnetic field will be at a very low level - also the wires are probably routed in a 'back and forth' arrangement, which means that the already small fields will tend to cancel out.

I wouldn't worry about it any more that you worry about the wiring in you house, the radiation from your telly, computer, hi-fi, ipod, walkman etc.. Oh and of course all the electronics in you GS, especially the wiring loom running right between you legs!

Just to be on the safe side it wouldn't hurt to wrap your torso in aluminium foil before wearing the heated vest.

Might even keep you a bit warmer :thumb

Esp if you set the Jacket to 180 centigrade........20mins a pound and 20 over :D

Talking dangerous, that looks like possibly the best way to attract a nice big bolt of lightning :D

Electric suit from I.E. Gerbing; here is my idèa!

If you have a suit like those from Gerbing;
-why not make plugs on the outside of it, so you can add things!
Things like indicators on the elbowes and a brake light on the back of the jacket!
Wery useful and NOT DANGEROUS!

And you can earn some money weraing advertisings on your back; like ''Coca Cola'' or ''Mac Donald'' or ''NGK Spark Plugs''!

Not dangerous
Useful
Fun! :D

:) Liv.
