Electric razor - experiences

I'm thinking of getting a battery razor to cut down on time etc when on holiday.

I've always wet shaved so have no experience of them other than trying one many years back and it didn't cut that well.

Thinking of a battery one or one that could be plugged into the bike socket. So not bulky or sill priced but one that might takle my growth which is not dis-similar to that of a yard brush after 1 day.

Have had several in the past - but normally end up back with Braun.

Just my personal choice of course.

I have a cheap battery one from Argos that I use on holiday. not as good as a real shave, but good enough:

The reason it didn't cut that well is the same reason it won't cut that well if you get one now.
Your skin gets used to a wet shave where it hardens the skin up and strips it of essential oils.
Dry shaving softens and stretches your skin and keeps the oils in your skin

I saw some pics of taken with a microscope camera once. Think of a tree stump ripped and chewed out of the ground by a tornado and then one cut down with a chainsaw. That's the difference between an electric and a wet shave. I would never use one of those things!

Wet shave every time, and a special treat is to have it done with a 'cut throat' razor. I know it's down to personal preference and I'm one who never feels right on the rare occasion I've used a Leccy razor.

Secret to a decent wet shave is this.

1 wet a flannel in hot water and place on your stubble, this will open up the pores of the skin. Then apply shaving cream/gel
2 shave down in short strokes, never shave up
3 clean the razor often in warm water
4 when you have finished shaving wash face in cold water, this closes the pores and seals out the germs

Braun! Used one (not the same one, mind) for 25 years. The old rechargable one is pretty good - after a few days, your skin does get used to the electric and the shave gets closer.

Went to Boots to check them out. Spotted a Braun thing with electric cleaning system etc. RRP 119 on bargain shelf for 40. Bought it - got to be worth a try at that price.

if on holiday why not go for the rugged look and have a wet shave when you reach destination or home
