Any help much appreciated!
It's a 1983 g/s, fully restored recently with new wiring loom. If I turn on the ignition to check that the lights etc are working, then turn the ignition off I'll usually, (not always) hear a fairly loud electrical discharge/popping sound from the front of the engine, possibly under the tank.
The bike starts and runs perfectly and doesn't obviously make said noise if it's been running. Any ideas?
Many thanks.

I had that sound before my Bosch coil suddenly went volcanic. Spectacular failure, with hot lava like stuff oozing from a fissure in the side. That was my second failed coil. Now using an Enduralast coil instead.

Ah yes, I wondered if it might be a sign of impending doom. Consensus seems to be that it's coil-related so reckon it's time for new one. Thanks for all the input.

They're not exactly a consumable, but I doubt many airheads are still running original coils. Not a bad idea to swap it out.
