That was poor management not poor engineers.

Oh no I've just realised there's a naffing great live cable going to my starter motor that isn't protected by a fuse

Under fault conditions there'd be fire and probabaly acid all over the place

Had to repair a 205 GTI once where that had happened.

Use best Welsh Anthracite and some nutty slack and all will be well.
