I have a 2014 GSA LC running the OEM aux lights. If I replace the lights with Denali DL4's (32w each/2.7a draw each), what's going to happen? Do I need to fit a Cansmart or Ezcan to get them to work?

Might be worth asking Denali in the first instance.

I understand the OE lights draw 1.8a each, so the new Denali's will likely shut down the circuit. (3.6a versus 5.4a for the Denalis). Thus you will need to run them through a controller module.

There are several threads on the subject across various forums, where many suggest leaving the BMW lights in place & mounting the new kit separately. Apparently this avoids any dash messages or coding out of the existing lights & leaves you with an entirely separate retro-fit option, that doesn't involve any of the bike's existing loom, which can be moved from bike to bike in the event of change. It makes sense, but I hasten to add that my info is second hand, not from personal experience.

One possible and relatively inexpensive but reliable option could be to mount up a 16A Healtech box fused from the battery and add them as extras with a separate switch .

Thanks everyone for your comments. Whilst I didn't factor in the need or cost for a Cansmart/Ezcan is does look as if it might be a worthwhile investment in the long term and there are obviously other benefits to be had by going down this route.
