elephant rally

hi all, im hoping for some info,im thinking of doing a trip to europe to do a winter rally,looking on the tinternet there seems to be two elephant rallys?? the time i can get away from work would restrict me to doing the one at the nurburgring,has any one been??what date is it being held next year??do you need to get a ticket in advance and where from.any advice welcome.also any stories if youve been.im trying to sell the idea to some mates to get a group together, is any one else going next year ... mike

Yep,there`s two...the Nurburgring one and the Altes Elefant near the German/Czech border.

I`ve long wanted to go but always end up having used my annual leave through the year and then don`t have sufficient time off available.

There`s a few Elefant veterans on here.


If you don`t get a reply from anyone,gamble on a PM to Micky,Bubbles,Laughing Gas,Shaggy or Techno...to name a few.


If you can`t manage the time or money for the Elefant,there are plenty of other Winter rallies in UK and Europe through the year.

I think Buckles is still planning on going down to the Elephant on his diesel Ural outfit, I've done the same as Tarka and run out of annual leave
so I'm afraid it's just the Dragon for me this year.

there is indeed two Elephantentreffens,
the first one is at the end of January(last weekend)this one is held in the small town of Solla/Loh in the Bayerischerwald(Bavarian forest)and is the larger of the two rallys,5-6 thousand people will attend this over the course of the weekend,its a must do winter rally,plenty of snow,beer,food,fireworks and general craziness,i cant recommend it enough,its a long jaunt,but one that will leave you wanting more.

The second rally is known as the Altes Elephantentreffen,this one is held at the Nurburgring and not as stated previously at the German/Czech border,this is in February,the weekend after the Dragon i think.

this rally by all accounts is a calmer affair with fewer people,one of the things that has put me off doing this rally in the past was the lack of snow,but the last couple of years,there's been plenty of it.

Elephant

Me and two mates are off to the Elephant, leaving Hull-Rotterdam on Monday the 25Th, return on Tues the 1st via same route, we are taking two Ural outfits. No set plans as yet, just to head to the rally site by the most direct route, we hope to be at the rally by midday Friday. If anyone else is going see you en-route, ave a safe trip. Andy.

There is also the Cagiva Elefant treffen held every year around the weekend of the longest day ( June 21st) - Though only about 250 bikers attend there's always a nice welcome and its held in a different country each year = this year its Germany -

Did this back in 2004 and was a pretty good crack although freezing After December temperatures we had on the island should be a walk in the park

We are going again this year - well actually in a few days now. Went 2008/2009/2010 already.

Looks like no snow this year though, which is a shame as I now have snow chains! Should be good in all the mud though!
