Elgin Hotel closed and handed over for Migrants.

Eight Acres Hotel in Elgin now closed; pool and leisure centre closed, kids swimming lessons cancelled as are all events and room bookings. They have taken the money and handed it over to house asylum seekers, seems they are running out of space and increasingly moving northwards. It’s a shame but guess the owners must have needed the money🤷
 
Unbelievable! You should take it up with that guy, Putin. I don't think he's taken your thoughts into account Sat all when planning his invasion of Ukraine.

I'm very surprised that the Acres has never been bought over and bulldozed...and then developed into housing. There's a Premier Inn as well as a Travelodge East of Hellgin now, and to be honest, these are only usually inhabited by travelling workers as tourists just don't stay here...they tend to visit for a day and stay somewhere nicer :rolleyes:
I grew up in this area and used to go to ' Discos ' in the 8 Acres Sherwood Suit back in the 80s, absolutely guaranteed that there would be a massive western style brawl kick off at some point ( tables and chairs were weapons of choice ) and people would be pissing against the bar while waiting to order their round !

It's changed hands a few times over the years but has had very little spend, and it is a shame that the leisure club side has now also given in, although, the membership rates had risen considerably but the facilities have never improved.

The current owners have obviously spotted the obvious earner and who blames them, what else would you do with a building of that size running at a permanent loss :nenau
 
Elgin is horrendous these days. The missus was genuinely concerned for her personal safety the last time she was there.

I don't see how migrants could make it any worse , although I daresay the usual far right arseholes from out of town, will try to suggest otherwise.

No worries Pete, the migrants have now heard they're being sent there, so have decided to go back to Albania.:D
 
Mid 90's and I stayed in Elgin a few times, either at the Laichmoray, or 8 Acres with work. Never ever thought about spending my own money on staying at the 8 Acres when I've been back since.

I feel safer in Albania than in Elgin now..and I've spent my entire life around here :rolleyes:
 
All seems very sensible to me. By putting them up in hotels we achieve zero immigration as they are now tourists. The tourist industry get's a massive cash boost. Two major political problems solved in a flash, I'm a genius :beerjug:

No. The terms I used applies to members of one of the fascist groups which try like fuck to exploit these situations. A little research will tell you it's the Patriotic Alternative, Britain First and the now illegal National Action. Hmm, wonder where the NA members went when it was banned? :augie

People in Elgin and other places will be understandably concerned and they should be supported in demanding more cash for police and social services which were badly needed long before migrants were placed there.

However the usual arseholes will not give a single fuck for the people of Elgin. They'll just stir up racism and violence in the town.

And when "far left" groups stir up racism and violence, I'll call them arseholes too, Gerry!

Immigrants get pretty much the same here as they do across Europe, there's no bonus for reaching the UK. We get a very small fraction of the immigrants that leave their home countries, we're certainly a less desirable destination than Turkey, France, Italy, Greece & Germany. I think it's something like 85% settle in their (next door) neighbouring countries anyway.

So who's ruled this country for the past 13 years and had a grip on the purse strings. When I say "ruled" I do of course mean in an Anti Midas type way, everything they've touched has turned to dust. Can't believe I still hear folk saying at least Boris got Brexit done. Except he fucking didn't, it's no where near done yet. They remain the worst bunch of grasping self serving slimy creatures deserve to be consigned to geography at the earliest opportunity.

That's not a typo btw, I mean geography, I want their still wheezing cadavers stretched across the fucking landscape.
