I've got a couple of South African friends in Dubai who I know from when I lived there.

They've decided that they want to elope and get married in Scotland.

Anyone got any idea of whether this is legally possible?

Sounds like a nightmare paperwork wise.

They're both divorced and are after a civil rather than god driven ceremony.

As long as they aren't pooftahs it shouldn't be a problem :thumb2

Me and the missus got married in Scotland; I was living in England, she in New York. Although there is a fair amount of paperwork to be done, it can all be done remotely, and posted in. There's a fair bit of information available on this website: http://www.gretnaweddings.co.uk/

We used them to organise the whole thing: accomodation, venue, meal, car, cake, photographer... even the wife's make up on the day itself. If I do say so myself it was a lovely wedding, and it did not feel 'manufacturered', as I had worried it might. Also, the whole thing cost about £1,800 (about 5 years ago), which is dirt cheap for a wedding with a dozen guests.

I have nothing to do with this company - the above is just the opinion of a happy customer.

Hope this is of help.

Fortunately they're of opposite sex.

Unfortunately they met through being very active members of Dubai HOG......

He's a Head Road Captain:blast

I looked into getting married at Gretna Green but decided the hassle was far too much.

Got married in Las Vegas instead. Very, very easy and legally binding in the UK. Cheap as chips as we had no guests.

18 years ago this month
