My current Dainese kit is getting a bit worn and will need replacing soon.

I tried on the HG Master V again yesterday together with the Tuareg.

As much as the Master V is a top bit of kit,it's just too stiff due to the kevlar weave.

The Tuareg was much more comfortable but I just don't think I could stomach the twat look and the fact that the Goretex liner comes out with the thermal liner kind of defeats getting a waterproof jacket that will be used probably more in summer than winter.

So what else is there ?

I definitely want a longish jacket,as I'm 6'1" and definitely want Goretex,as I don't trust anything that has a different name to be 100% waterproof.

It must have a thermal removable liner, but leave the Goretex in place.

Is Rukka worth the silly price and where would be a good place in the south to try stuff on ?

Ta for any info.

I know it sounds cheap & cheerful but have a look at the "Spada Adventure" suit which is fully vented, goretex and very warm and only £220 for the Jkt & Trousers. The jacket has loads of pockets and waterproof zips too.

If you don't have any issue with BMW kit, the Streetguard stuff is pretty good, I have the older Tourguard jacket and it's very waterproof, doesn't get soaked, water just runs off.

...Arsey,

I switched from Dainese to Rukka and yes its worth the price difference.

There is good germany site (bikerland) that will provide very competitive prices (ask for a deal) and the A-Tech, if still available was the same price as my Dainese gear but the quality of Rukka in my opinion is different league.

Cant see me ever buying any other brand of textile gear, as I commute 365 days a year.

Take a look at the Rev'It Cayenne Pro :thumb2

Make sure that it's the Cayenne Pro though (much higher quality materials than either the old Cayenne or the lesser Off Road)

They do short, medium and long in all their kit. It comes in a variety of colour combinations. It has thermal and goretex liners which you can have in any combination.

It looks tw@ish (and I quote Whatton ) 'without being the full tw@'! :D

I've had a cople of £250 plus jackets over the years but my lastest one is a Rukka Marco and as far as I am concerned YES Rukka is worth the money. A lot of the HG gear is getting very expensive and quality is slipping. the Halvarssons stuff is also very good as a couple of mates have bought it

I was at Laguna in Maidstone the other day talking about Rukka jackets and was told that they are going up by £100 soon so if you are thinking about Rukka then get your skates on.
Can't remember what jackets they were as I was not really in the market for one and we were just talking.

Thanks guys,for all the info/advice.

A mate has just bought this jacket.

It does look well constructed, but the jacket is quite short (it's only the pants they do in short and long versions) and the waterproofing isn't goretex. It's something called Hydratex.

It looks ok,but without sounding like a snob,I don't think it will be that well made for such a low price.None of the ads mention goretex, and I very much doubt that it is made using goretex at that low price.

The Streetguard is just a bit short-I really want a 3/4 length jacket that i can use on it's own most of the time at home and then use with pants when away.

Rukka may be the way ahead.

Does anybody sell the stuff in the south of England,as I would definitely want a try on first.

Aerostich just looks like an Action Man outfit to me.

I know it's great stuff,but I don't think it's for me.

So I think I might have to try and source a Rukka dealer for a try on.

Cheers again

Halvarson ?

They do some good kit. I dont own any but i've seen it in the flesh and ther have been quite a lot of positive comments on here .Try a search:thumb2

you have to try the Hein Gerricke Cruise....

i'm 6ft, have ridden through torrential down pours... had the suit for 3 years now and not a leak!!! just needs a wash and a waterproof every year via the washing machine... easy :aidan

removable inners.... so not to hot in the summer and keeps me warm when i've ridden through ice and snow.... :aidan

Which jacket????

I have the need for a new jacket as well but would not go for the HG Cruise: the team in Plymouth would NOT recommend it and showed an example that had been returned to them after a few months riding. If i had spent £300 on a jacket and it had done that i would not have been pleased. The details on it are all wrong (compared to the older version). I was told a new one should be introduced soon.

My issue is BMW Streetguard or Rukka Marco? Ocean BMW has the Streetguard for £380 and Hideout the Marco for £360 (or biker-land.de for £310). Streetguard appeals due to Armacor, price offer and recommended tag from Bike, Marco 'cos most people say its good.

Any help????????

I tried on a Marco and fell in love with the fit/feel of the jacket. It felt tailored to me, but, it had no ventilation whatsoever, and, that killed it for me. At least the Streetguard 2 has pit zips. If it didn't have that extra inner cuff, it would be a 4 season jacket for me.

Arsey,

Having read your post again if you want a waterproof jacket that will be used in the summer more than winter and thats so comfortable you dont realise you are wearing it ( even tho its fully armoured) get down to a BMW dealer and try on the BMW Comfortshell Jacket. Its by far and away the BEST jacket I have owned , better than my Rukka.

100% waterproof (tested in Scotland) but unlike most gortex jckts its water proof on the outside so it doesn't 'hold' water and get heavy&cold.
Its got amazing thermal qualities that keep you cool in summer yet even with temps of less than 10degrees this a.m. and no liner I was fine on my commute to work with just a very thin base layer t shirt on.

Its fekkin expensive but its my favourite bit of kit:thumb

I posted here when I had just bought it , there is some links for more info'
