Last night I sent an email to someone new to me and it came back with the following bounce message -

"The mail system

said: 553-mail rejected because your IP is in RBL. See 553

...........................................

I have looked at their website but it seems lengthy and complicated and I don't really see why I should have to go to loads of trouble for something I'm not causing.
I'm in France and my ISP is orange but that should not matter.
I did send it to colin murray at the bbc and the email address is genuine.
I have no other problems with any other emails that I send and receive.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you.

Your IP is in a spam blacklist (until your internet provider, or hosting company takes action).

Thanks for the reply.
I have been sending other emails this morning and this is the only one that has bounced.
Do I just sit back and wait for things to get better ?

are you abroad at the moment? this might have some bearing on it and is your email a hotmail type of arrangement? Or is it a hustler(at)thehouseof hustle.co.uk

The problem might get worse if one blacklist adopts entries in another, I'd chase your ISP. BT had a problem with being a bit slow to stop spammers on their accounts, and quite a few places were bouncing emails from btinernet.com

It's the receiver that checks the blacklist (sort of).
Simplified: You might be able to send to some people, and might be bounced by others.

As Shugie said, chase your provider (the one providing you the smtp server) if the problem is not resolved within some hours. Stuff like this happens quite often to be honest.

We are abroad, in la belle France and have been using this email address for 3 years now.
I didn't know thehouseofhustle was available so I'll look into that, thank you.

Thank you shugie and er-minio.
I'd rather not tackle my isp as it will all be in French and technical French at that so think I'll see how it all develops.
If I start to get bounces on other emails then that opinion will change quickly although I could wander down and talk to the mayor in the village if things get bad as I know they are on orange and are a helpful lot.
Thanks for the advice, appreciated.
