End can choice for 1300 GS?

Just gone for the single Akra titanium can with a heal tech servo elimiinator. With the valve open its just right - nice burble and a little pop on the shift down. On my Tram 1300 it looks great in the black!

Do you need the heal tech servo eliminator?

Can’t you just disconnect the cables?
Wouldn’t know, but the switch gives you flexibility to switch it back to factory anywhere that you might want it quiet. Not an expensive addition and easy to fit.

I haven’t on either my M1000R or the 1250 GS. I left the servo motor on the bikes, but disconnected the cables from the valves.
If you want the max noise with a can only, the healtech lets you remove the servo completely.

Yes i disconnected the cables at the flappy end so the flap stays open and the cables just hang there. Not 'noisy' but a nicer noise and no errors.

They must have done something to stop the engine warning light coming on! On my 1250 if you disconnect the cables, the servo still tries to open the flap and because there is a spring on the flap the resets the servo, if the servo can't reset, it throws an engine warning light. On the 1200s the same happened, but there was only an error on the ecu and no warning lights on the dash. That is what the servo eliminator module used to do, fool the ecu.

The butterfly exhaust valve only partly closes at low revs so it is open most of the time anyway. Disconnecting it or putting an eliminator in will only make it noisier when you are stopped.
You can take the plastic cover off the top and watch it, and see it is mostly fully open when you rev the engine .

My stock 1250GSA wakes the neighbourhood on startup, God only know what its like with an Akrapovic fitted.

A mate has an early 1200 Akra end can on his 1250GSA with the baffles out and when we go touring, nobody wants to ride behind him...... Noisy bastard !

End can is usually my first mod on any bike, but to be honest the R1300's can actually looks half decent and today on the ride back from having it's first service today it's got a real nice deep burble. Not sure shelling out nigh on a grand for either of the Akra cans is really worth it?

Nope….

I haven’t changed a standard exhaust since I put an expansion chamber job on my Vespa 200

Don’t see much point on a modern 4 stroke
Can’t help myself farkling a new bike! Sometimes it’s nice just to fiddle a bit and look at things like that.

It’s a bit like putting different alloys on your car in the late 80s (bollix I’m old).

nice deep burble is stretching it a bit

You can get the Akra for £899 at nippy norman and will probably get £500 back all day long when you come to sell so its £400 cost, small change compared to the bike depreciation, for something that looks rather nice on the bike.

Having bought an Akra, it literally sounds exactly the same as the standard can, still very happy with it though, it's a quality item.

Having ridden the bike with the standard can for first couple thousand, I can confidently say the single Akra sounds better even on factory setting (which means valve open / closed same as stock). It’s just got a deeper sound and I noticed immediately when started after swapping it but before doing the valve. It’s also got a lovely pop on the downshift gear changes (with quick shifter), which the stock one doesn’t. This only happens when the heal tech is switched to open, so I can only assume that the valve is at least partially closing on gear changes when stock. IMO it makes a big enough difference to warrant the swap, isn’t too loud to annnoy annyone, and the black can looks much better I think.
