I'm thinking about some protection for the exhaust end can on the 1200, for use on unsurfaced roads ie, for when it gets a case of gravel rash.
I can't find anything about exhaust protection, has anyone got or done anything?
Ive seen the Touractech protectors for the pipes but nothing for the end can. I can envisage some sort of nice peforated alloy guard running from the pipe an along past the hanger.

I don't think that you'll find much available to go over the outside of the standard end can because fitting such a protector would preclude the use of panniers.

You'll probably have to make something yourself.

Hasn't the standard can already got a sort of protective metal cover on it? I haven't looked in detail but that's what it looks like to me.

Of course if it's not removable / replaceable it's not much use.

Ahh but Mouse that 'protective cover' is nice shiny chrome that is the very thing that Dr Rich presumably wants to protect.

I took mine off to make tar removal easier - loosen the central strap and remove the 3 bolts on the end cap - then, with a fair amount of force required, it slips off - there is some wire mesh stuff covering part of the end can - getting the chrome part back over that I found to be tricky part of replacement.

Ah I see...or no I don't!! I didnt realise the shiney chrome thing was protective. So is the can vulnerable without the shiny chrome thing?

Yes - buy an alloy remus second had for £100!!!
