Just done the first major service on the bike myself.

Found LH inlet end float at the upper end of spec, the exhaust was just out of min spec........

RH was ok inlet and exhaust........

all the valves needed nipping in a bit..exhaust seemed worst on both sides....

Is it normal to have lh different from rh ........(I know it could be the last guy that adjusted them but) I thought I'd ask anyway

ohhh and synchronising the throttle bodies........that was fun......(for fun read fiddly as feck)

still got a nice tickover at 1100 and two perfectly matched columns at 4000 rpm

sounds good too

( a big thanks to steptoe for the idiots guide......I needed it)

Don't know about normal, but first time I did mine, the rocker end floats (while just in spec) were all over the place. The bike (34000 mile 1100) has been BMW dealer serviced up to this point, but I don't think the dealers bother adjusting the floats if they are within specification (even though end floats at minimum spec are much better for smooth running).

The factory spec for end float is a mile wide, the dealer techs apparently rarely touch em, fastidious owners prefer to set them nearer the tight end :thumb2

Ta for that .

And yes I do notice the better running.........a day in a cold garage worthwhile methinks.

Noticably smoother at tickover..no screen shake now:thumb2

my inlet and outlet wer also inside and outside tollarences too.

setting them all as close as i could gave same results , smoother running :thumb2

better running and fuel economy was also better, so worth the extra time spent in the garage.
