As some of you will know, I have had a few health issues , cancer, over the last two years and although keeping positive about the future, I have not ridden my bike for quite a while now. the pills I am on tend to make my legs a bit wobbly so Ive not used the boat or the bike. The Austin 7 though has still been used frequently... Upshot is that I am going to sell the R100 RT. I may also replace it with another classic car,( Fancy an A35 van, my first ever car bought in 1965 for £15.)

This will be one hell of a wrench as I have had a bike in the garage almost continuously for the past 50 years. Bms have always been my choice since 1978 and over the past few years have been airheads.

So .I will have to consider myself a visitor though I will still make the odd daft comment:D

I suppose it comes to us all :rob

If you keep the boat, then that will counteract the wobblyness of your legs, and you'll look fine when on board.

Just a thought:D

Just keep in touch..and posting...the GS bit don't seem so important these days.
It's just good that people pop in and share their thoughts.

All the best.

Hi Good luck to you, It will come to us all, i am a lifetime biker, its not a hobby is is part of who i am but it would't bother me to give up biking.
It would be a case of "been there done that"
I now have alternatives, motorhoming. i also have my classic car (Cadillac).
All the best and post a picture of the 7

End of an era indeed Tony :(

But don't leave this place, we need you to keep your two 'kids' in check when they get rowdy :thumb

Sorry to hear this news Tony, unfotunatley the tax man cometh otherwise you know, I would be catching t train t south and riding t north, boy would I like that bugger back.
There is an old fashioned garage in the next town selling a 1920/1930 hillman minx, had a sniff round it very nice, been in museums all its life, it was in a hotel in london years ago to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the minx, could take some pics if y interested, it was up for around 5g I think its a private sale as well, I know the garage owner lives just down the road from me.

All the best:thumb2

Plus 1, Says most of it really.

Except: We've all be itching to see those little Austins of yours for ages. I'm sure too that if you do find an A35 van you'll ba able to fit Fils ped in the back. Now that'll give you wobbly legs to worry about. Trying to start the thing. :augie

Sad news indeed. Certainly is an end of an era for you...but chin up fella, I have an old Land Rover myself and these old vehicles can be a great substitute if needs be ( then again feckin' hub oil seal just popped on me today:( )
The slippery slope commenced when you sold that lovely mono, then you sold Bertha to some scally and the final nail in the coffin came when you bought an RT !!:D

As moderator I'll allow you 3 posts a year so keep in touch :D

Tony

You will always be very welcome at our place at any time in whatever means of transport you choose.

The BMW thing is just a minor detail. Hope you health is OK.

Keep playing the music.

Sid & Ann

Don't worry about it, you can still live bikes through your sons and grandson (& little Sophie perhaps)

You're a grand fella, a typical Englishman with a stiff upper lip in adversity, with a little bit of vehicle eccentricity and that makes you special in my book:beerjug:

I'm sorry to hear that your health issues have finally forced the difficult decision on you. However, be it bikes, cars, boats, steam engines, cameras or whatever, those are just the toys that keep us sane. Its your health that matters most.

Enjoy the cars and keep on posting here. This being the 'old farts club' we're interested in anything, particularly if it has an engine, so pictures of your cars and reports of your outings will be very welcome :thumb2 :thumb2.

Now, I really must make time to finish the rebuild of my '76 Zetor tractor and get on with the '58 Tiger Cub :blast

All the very best mate :thumb

You still have one German airhead in ya garage pops :thumb

Shame I'm not able to buy the RT, hope it goes to someone deserving of all the hard work you've put in to her.

many thanks guys for al the v ery kind comments and wishes. I didnt post this to be morbid or give the impression I was giving up though. Its just another stage in my life. Illness has certainly focused my mind on the future though and I suppose even without the cancer, age alone would have made me feel about things this way.
Flip is right, I still have his Zundapp that I am rebuilding. The boat though will also have to go as wobbly legs on a heaving deck do not make a sensible combination. Jaber, sorry you are not in a positionj to have the RT back. Hillmans were great cars but Im not sure about the spares situation, so will stick to Austins.
Going up in the motorhome tomorrow to have a look at a 35 van, very tidy it looks and will post pics if we get it.
Thanks again and I will keep posting if only to keep that scouse mod on his toes:D

Its a shame the RT has to go Tony, that was a good ride we had together at this years Wee-kend I'll never forget the image of the RT's barn door fairing getting bigger and bigger in my mirrors with your ear to ear grin behind it :D.

Wishing you well in every way, and I will get down to see you soon.

Geoff.

best wishes

All the best Tony and hope you enjoy any travels you may have, wether it's on 2 wheels or 4 and keep fighting! :thumb2

I can only repeat what Geoff has written. The G/S is being restored at the moment, when it's done it's yours to ride if ever you want to borrow it. :thumb2
