endplay in rear wheel bearings?

Last night I undid everything and then tightened up in the order posted in this thread.

I can only wait and see if it makes a difference.

Hmmm, if they were originally tightened in the wrong order then the damage may have already been done, let's hope not.:thumb

btw, I've forgotten what the recommended grease is for maintenance:blast, can anyone remind me?

I don't want to sound the profit of doom here Rob but.... the damage might have already been done simply by winding such a huge force on the relatively small taper rollers :blast

Edit.. we came together Tim :D

Staburags NBU 30 PTM :thumb

However I don't want to pay dealer prices for special white grease so I use high moly CV joint grease.

The bearing are in, the final drive movement is nice and smooth and there is no bearing play.

I'm going to do nothing more until I get some bearing movement. If that is 6 months then so be it.

Life is life and I'm not going to fret too much about a £30 bearing.

Thanks for the help though.

Well as this thread has been here there and everywhere
Result from me
NOT wheel bearings
Just a bit of adjustment reqd to the taper rollers
Just to check I'd done it right I dropped in at CLARKES BMW ( bham)
all correct and done
At 22,500miles even they were suprised it had 'worn'
So I've completed the service, got a new front tyre to fit
All's well for this year now
Cheers all
