If you have a 1200 GSA with enduro box are all the other 5 gears different ratios to the standard box?

Or is the first gear just shorter but the other 5 the same as the normal box?

The bike seems to be running higher reves all the way throuigh the box than I remeber on my previous GSA.

Thanks

I believe the only gear effected is the first one, the others being unaffected. :thumb2

....... yes, thats my understanding as well ......

Is this a 2010 GSA?...if so, it is a lot harder revving than the old engine, and certainly with quicker acceleration.....are you confusing that with a higher gear ratio? :nenau

AFAIK on the 2008/9 GSA the Enduro 1st is the only gear that is different, just a tad lower.

I believe the overall gearing is slightly lower on the 2010 bikes to account for the fact that the engine revs 500rpm higher.

If you look at the hand book it shows the gear ratios
IT is only the 1st gear that is different

That was on the old 1150 GSA Enduro box option, IIRC:rob

That is pretty cool... I wish my bike had the normal 6th but the low first... maybe I need a new one... I just can't get on with this 'low' 6th... it's costing me a fortune in petrol! :D

I have just this very second received a reply from BMUU Motorrad to a question regarding the 2010 model gear ratios.

No surprises here, they are the same as the previous model, and the Enduro option gearbox has the same ratios as the outgoing Enduro 'box. i.e. Lower first gear only:

The standard gear box is:
1st 2.375 38:16
2nd 1.696 39:23
3rd 1.296 35:27
4th 1.065 33:31
5th 0.939 31:33
6th 0.848 28:33

The only difference with the Enduro box is the 1st gear, the 6th gear is the same as the standard gear box.
1st 2.600 39:15

In their infinite wisdom, BuMW shortened the overall gear ratios at the time of the Mu makeover, ie model year '08 onwards. If you had en early GSA it definitely had "longer" legs than a new one now has. Sixth gear is the same with or without the enduro first gear option....

... Exactly spot-on

... The new '08 model GSA has a slightly shorter final drive ratio than the stock GS. Only first gear is changed if you take the enduro option.

... It makes them easier to bimble in town, up rough tracks and stuff but you get slightly worse fuel consumption compared to a pre'08, or a stock GS

A while ago AndyW of this parish put togethe some CDs with all sorts of useful informstio, including a spreadsheet with gear ratio calculations.

At the time I was about to change my 1200GS, and went through a bi-curious phase F800GS or R1200GSA ?
I wanted lower ratios for off-road, so the GSA Enduro 'box was interesting; the F80GS was of interest because I could change the sprockets...

T|he attached sheet has the working for my outgoing '06 1200GS, the (then) new '08 GSA, '08 GSA with Enduro 'box and 800GS...
