I’ve seen these bars advertised as having come off an 850GS, and the seller “assumes that they will also fit the r1100gs and r1150gs models”
The top fixing looks like it’s the wrong for an 1150, so is there a significant difference in bars between the 850, 1100, & 1150?
Just curious what make these are, and what they would fit.…..

They look like the SW Motech bars. They fitted mine, but I had to part with them because they didn't work with the Nitron aftermarket shock as the new shock was slightly thicker and the cross section at the front touched the shock. Good bars though and look really good on the bike. Powder coating can get a bit flacky on the cross member.

edit: Scrap that, the bottom connection is different so not SW Motech.

Found them http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/400848777347?clk_rvr_id=1088952475074&rmvSB=true only mentions the r1100gs so may not work with the 1150. I think the 1150 exhaust pipes and sump guard may get in the way.

The top fixings are the same for the 850/1100/1150. The small bracket in the bottom of the picture is the top fixing which bolts to the front subframe and the bars then bolt to the bracket.
You may need adapter brackets for the rear gearbox mounts which are the only difference between the mounting points between the 1100/1150 models.

Those bars are a pain in the arse and get in the way when doing any servicing and make a simple job like changing the alternator belt turn into a major drama, especially if you have to do it at the side of the road.

In my opinion leave well alone. :D

I'm just rebuilding a written off SE that had a low speed low-side. The only reason it's written off is because the engine bars dug in and flipped it, causing loads more damage than a cracked rocker cover. I certainly won't be refitting any! Leave well alone is my advice.

You mean like these examples i bought at salvage auctions many years ago.. I'm sure BMW designed the ADV crashbars for good financial reasons, to write bikes off or cause the most damage possible.

Most serious damages caused by the ADV crashbars acting as a fulcrum point and flipping the bikes so they slide along on the tank, instruments and screens .
