Engine Bars - Info please

Guess they'll use the shear strength of the mounting bolts and butt welds then.

... H&B style (including Touratech) or S&W are just different approaches. If they both work as designed, the bars get pounded and the bike is left undamaged.

... I would like to know what the service managers and technicians reckon gives them the most left to work with, after an off. I've had one opinion from a service manager after I'd fitted my bars, very pro-H&B and anti-BWM. What's the collective wisdom?

I'd say you'll definitely save yourself some sponduliks when you drop it ... I've just this morning picked my 12GS up from having a new rocker cover fitted (wanted the whole bike checked over otherwise I'd've done it myself!)... some local hooded yooths kindly knocked it off its centre stand last weekend when I was away... bless 'em - net result - one cracked r/h rocker cover (cracked round one of the bolts - the rear indicator lense also got borken!)... total repair cost for rocker cover refit:

Parts:
Rocker cover £94.47
Rocker cover gasket £12.00
Gasket £2.85
Labour: £19.88
Total cost: £129.20 ex VAT

They kndly gave me the oil refill and a new filter for free!

So that's what you could be saving yourself...

not just on a sportsbike forum - I had a 7-year old Fazer 600 that was nudged off its stand and that ran to a £1400 bill. The driver - in early twenties - kindly waited around until I returned so no cost to me. (I had a Fazer 1000 knocked off its stand by a driver who did a runner - someone got his number and he turned our to be an 80 year old pensioner -don't trust old folk, they are all wrong 'uns.)
