Hello to you all,
I am new to this site and have been viewing the site for a few day to see what it's all about and I have found it very usefull and informative. I will be collecting my New 1200gs hopefully on the 1st March"yippee" but here are a few questions I am looking for answers to:
1)Aftermarket screen is there a particular one to look out for? as I think the stock one will cause ma a headache at motorway speeds as it looks on the small side deflecting wind at my head instead of over it.
2)I have read also about Tobinators for after market screens can someone tell me what these are and there benefits?
3)I have seen pictures of what I can only describe as spotlights on the front of the bike are these Bmw? or are they an aftermarket item by another manufacturer?
Well that's all for now folks t.t.f.n

I don't have any experience of the GS1200 myself, but the screens have some adjustment there, so try that before you buy another screen. Also, check the many threads on these pages about screens and buffeting.
You can read all about Tobinators here, and you will find this subject is also well covered on this site if you look.
The lighting issue is also well covered. You can have B*W dealer fitted lamps, or you could save yourself a substantial wad of dosh by going to
Nippy Normans where you can get excellent service and advice and a rather neat set of spotlights for your machine.

I picked up my new 12 on Saturday (being impatient I couldn't wait until March) and the screen seems OK. I am 6ft and find it best in the lowest position.

However, I fitted an MRA Vario screen to my 1150 and found it to be brilliant. After e mailing MRA, I am informed they hope to bring out a 1200 Vario screen in May/June. Could be worth investigating.

You can order a Touratech catalogue direct from www.touratech.co.uk. They supply most things BMW for touring etc. I'm about 5'8'' and don't have that much of a problem with buffeting but you can get a spoiler for the standard screen from Touratech.

Hope you enjoy the bike as much as I am.
