Hi All.
I have seen a thread on this issue on the f800 riders forum, but does not seem to find a similar one on this forum.
From day one I had this strange knocking noise/sound being emitted from the engine between 2000 and 2500 rpm. At first I thought it was the BMW engine plate that was vibrating, but at the first service the dealer reported that it was indeed the engine, and that I should not pay any attention to it.
They also said that the other 650 they have as a demo made the same sound, and it does not have an engine plate.
Anyone here experienced the same?
The bike is now on 1400km, and the sound is still there.
Replies on the f800 forum ranged from piston slap to valve timing chain tensioner.
The latter makes sense, and the first I hope is far from correct...

I have a loud rattle/knocking (I can hear it with earplugs in) at tickover on my 800. Of course when I rode 70 miles to the dealer for them to listen to it, it was quiet, started again the next day!

Don't worry about the noise, its part of the breaking in process and will disappear over time (like at about 3ks)

Hello all I am new at the community and my 650 has 450 miles and has that rattle noise between 1.500 and 2.500 revs...!! Just today driving to work I thought in asking the dealer about it...doesn´t seem completely right.
