There appears to be a difference of opinion on what engine oil 'BMW' recommend for the 1200GSA. After speaking to three dealers i received 3 different answers.
Birmingham - Castrol 20/50 mineral active gp
Yorkshire - 10/40 or 10/50 mineral or synthetic
Rotherham - Castrol 20/50 synthetic active gp
Does it really matter? All three did stress that the two types of oil should never be mixed even on topping up, so at least there is some 'consistency'.
I'm on mineral and interesting my 08 GSA used over half a litre in 1500 miles does that sound excessive?.
