Morning all
Picking up my GS1150 this weekend weather permitting.......Need some advice please. The paint on the engine needs touching up in a couple of places. Whats the best type to use.Colour match etc.
Many thanks:thumb

BE careful I don't know what they paint them with but I "Had the Devils Own Job" gettin the front of a mates repainted!!!

If you put cellulosic paint onto them what is on the engine goes mushy!

I ended up "nitromors"ing the front cover to bare metal and a light coat of etch primer and then several layers of Silver VHT

Looked alright I think?

BMW sell the EXACT engine spray and a separate laquer for the 1150 engine. Works a treat.

I've just come back from a shopping trip from Halfords, U-Pol #8 Etch Primer. This will be the base coat on the bottom part of the fork and the fork brace(once I get that &^*^% thing off). Will then use Hamerrite in a spaygun to give it the silver colour. Any ideas on me using Hamerrite in a spaygun(yes I will dilute it with thinners). For now that is the two parts that will get done this year.

Use Smoothrite and warm it first.

Been searching on the net for Smoothrite. A few diffirent opinions. But then what hasn't? Do you use it and what do you mean by warm it first. I'm a total beginner at painting. Probably like most of the things I do iit s because I like the toys that come with it. Compresor with paint gun. Can't just use the compresor...

This comes in an airosol you dont need a spray gun, just warm the tin in warm water for a bit improves spray action and makes a good job, several
thin coats rather than a thick one.
