Dear All,

I'm a new to the R1200GS, I've only covered 200 miles on my new bike, which I'm thoroughly enjoying. However which options are open to me when looking for engine protection as I intend to ride it off-road, gravel tracks etc. I have looked at Wunderlich who sell the standard engine protection bars and the valve cover cylinder protectors.

I have seen footage of the GS Adventure with a cracked cylinder head fitted with engine bars. So I'm inclined to opt for the cylinder protectors, both would be best I suppose but I'm keen to hear from other boxer engine owners who have fitted aftermarket protection as to their thoughts on this matter.

thanks in advance

Mark

Hi Mark welcome to the madhouse, there are quite alot of parts available first thing i bolt to my boxers both my gs and r nine t is a front crud catcher which bolts to the front case and protects it from stones and debris which damage. Others will be along to tell you what the fit..

Hi Mark, I have added the BMW cylinder head protectors on a 2016 TB GS.

However, I'm investigating if the 2017 BMW lower engine bars will fit over the head protectors as I don't want to take these off.
