Not being very computer minded i dont know if this picture will work, but if it does, here's an engine spray guard i made to keep some of the shit flung up by the front wheel off the engine case. 1mm stainless shim material, bent by hand, works well and looks alright too!

you should also bolt it on the other side of the sump plate so the dirt dose not rest on the joint just saying.

Very innovative, but for me not a patch on Mr Hooton's work

No1 daughter bought me a GSA crud catcher for crimbo and I've just ordered one for my mate's GSA from Mark

Me and my brother both got crud catchers from Mark, brill kit and does protect the engine, we also have 'fender extenders' and seem to work well in conjunction with Mark's gear.
Mark's catcher comes in good fine stainless steel with stainless fixings too.

I think at the end of the day protection is the aim - method is secondary, and there is a certain kudos in having 'done it yersel' so bash on Omias, good work

Thanks for the generally positive feedback lads, i thought it wasn't bad for someone with no sheet metal working experience, a couple of hours, and a vice. Got paid for it to which has got to be a bonus. Might make a camel toe next, if i can find some ali somewhere........

Not bad but i cured the same issue with a fender extender (a 5'' extension to the front mudgard) that can be brought from Wonderlich.

Paul, I too started with the extender - and a few months later got a crud catcher too, for the reason that you probably will too - the fender extender does work - to a point........

I LOVE to see homemade stuff on a bike, as long as it looks good and does the job intended. Although I would draw the line at a mudflap on the mudguard.


Oh, and if the fender extenda worked THAT well, then Mr Hooton wouldn't sell many Crud Catchers. Although they do also fall into the "bling" category

Well done fella, and it does look much better than a mud flap IMHO.
