engine start up knock

FWIW my 35k 1200GS usually lives inside a big shed connected to an optimate, I chose the sh1tty weather to redecorate and put furniture in the shed, beike was outside in ice n snow for 10 days, I thought I'd test out a proper cold start, hit button and was greeted by a deep knocking noise which gradually subsided!!
