Started my bike for the first time in a week or so. It seemed to take a fraction longer than normal to fire up, and when it did the idle speed sat at 2,500 rpm for perhaps five seconds before dropping to normal. Each time I closed the throttle and let the bike idle (e.g. junctions) it did the same. rolling on and off the throttle when moving along was particulalry jumpy, and it felt a little bit rougher everywhere.

No warning lights on, by the way.

After about five minutes, everything returned to normal - smooth, proper idle speed, no lurching.

Other than that, it's been perfect for 5,000-odd miles in four months.

Any suggestions? Has this happened to anyone else?

Robin.

Not on the 12, but it's something I've experienced off and on with various bikes over the years. I've never been able to pin it down to anything in particular, except that the bike's been standing for a wee while. I half suspect supermarket petrol as a contributing factor. Haven't done any scientific testing, but haven't had a problem since I stopped using tesco fuel.
