I have an R1200GS with GSA. The rear GSA unit looks a little exposed especially the wire that comes from the bottom on the unit.

Does anyone know of an add-on accessory to protect it please?

Many thanks!

Mine sits behind a Mudsling (from Nippy Normans) and this keeps all the SH*T off the unit and rear shock.

be careful when ordering though as some of the huggers don't fit the bikes with ESA.

Reference on the NN site is :HUG-R1200GS08-BK

Its sculpted to suit ESA - no rain yet of course...but it will come

Hi Guys,

I picked up my new GSA with ESA 2 days ago. (Horrible gearbox BTW)
I am looking to protect the shock etc.
Question is....is there enough clearance under the hugger to fit TCK80s on ?

OGR

Thanks for all the advice.

I bought the MudSling from NN. Very easy to fit and it looks like it will protect the expensive bits.

It's a lot of money for a piece of moulded plastic but cheaper than a new rear ESA unit.

Can't help thinking BMW should have provided better protection as standard.

Had to have my ESA rear shock replaced under warranty when that little rubber grommet split. Not a great design in my view....

Just measured - there is only 18-20mm clearance on normal road tyres - Conti Attacks

This ESA thing, is it something that is fitted to new GSA's, mine is a 07 would I have it.

Thanks for that, I may take a gamble on it. I already have a set of 80s on my Tenere so have some idea of the knobble size. It may still fit

Its a clever system that stops your feet reaching the ground if you get it wrong ! ..Oh and you will have a button on the left switch cluster that says "ESA" and no money in your pocket.

Mine is planned in for a warranty repair next week. I can't believe either that the entire shock needs to be replaced.
