Morning !

I have a 2010 GS, love it! love.
brilliant bike. It is the SE with the ESA, it'll cycle through the dampening changes no problem what so ever, on the move or before I set off and while I'm riding and I can notice a difference.

When it comes to the PRELOAD it will not do anything, I have tried it every which way possible and had it reset on the computer when I sorted the service light out the chap in the garage reset everything and I still hold the button in and it wont move,

any advice is appreciated. my plan this next few days is to take all electrical cables off etc and give them a clean and see if that helps.

Live in Penrith Cumbria so if there is anyone that can come and fix it, ill throw in a cup of tea and a biscuit.

Thank you

Benson

Engine running, bike on sidestand. Cycle through in steps from solo, solo plus luggage, two, mild terrain, rough terrain. The bike should think about it for about 20 seconds then pop up to increase preload/ride height.

No engine running, no changes.

You shouldn't hold the button in. Just a bit longer than to select damping change. As soon as the indication on dash changes symbol release the button and wait. (Engine running and in neutral)

Thank you I did try that but it doesn't seem to even let me cycle through the icons don't change. ill try again tomorrow!

Sounds more like a switchgear issue. The switches have been known to fail on the earlier bikes though not heard of it on newer bikes.

or of course, the actual strut. I had one fail years ago on an RT of that era. I can tell you, I was glad it was covered on the BMW warranty at £1000!!

If it is this and you're not under any warranty, there's several companies who rebuild and repair them a lot cheaper (Firefox Racing is one that comes to mind)

Was the reset on a 911?
When I had the same problem, it had to go to the dealer to be recalibrate on their computer. 911 reset didn't work.

Tried again today no luck its a 2010. the switch seems to work for dampening so would believe it would work for the rest!

ill keep that in mind! I would think that the computer itself would actually show the changes, but not move,. it doesn't even change the icons
