ESA problems...... again.

This has happened to me twice. Each time it has cost £50 at a BMW dealer (SBW Hertford) to fix.

A heavy pillion dismounts from the bike suddenly and the shock moves beyond/outside a limit setting of a transducer. The dealer connects the bike to a GT1, runs a software program to tell the ECU to ignore the out-of-tolerance warning (or whatever) and, hey presto!, it's working again.

Of course, you may not be so lucky.........

HTH,

John
£50 to fix dodgy BMW gear  This is something the GS-911 should be able to sort.

ESA

Took bike to Motorrad Central in Dalkieth yesterday.....rear shock is F....d. £1000 + VAT for a new shock plus the new shock wont connect with the "old" electronics, so that'll be another £800 approx. Totally pissed off. Has anyone removed ESA and fitted normal shocks ? BMW or Wilbers etc. Advice please. :(

I read somewhere that to set the suspension you shouldn't be sitting on the bike?

:type

It's about giving the little motors that adjust the preload a chance. If you load the bike up with luggage, tell the missus to hop on the back and then 'Oooo look - I'm on solo setting - I'll just tweek it to two up + luggage...' you're going to really stress the poor little buggers whilst they try and shift over 150 kilos. Give them a chance and make your adjustments either off the bike or (if it's just you on board) at least with your feet on the floor. :thumb2

Wilbers do one. Contact John at Revs suspension @£630 ish.

Had my RT done there. It's not been without problems as the stepper motor was corroded and need a new one of those to make the damping adjustments.

Wilbers make their own as I believe they cannot be bought through BMW.

Give them a call to discuss
