ESA settings on the move

Morning fellow boxer friends..

I always thought that with ESA whilst moving you could only swap between ‘Soft, Normal,Hard’ when moving. The one rider two rider and off-road you had to be stopped. This was the same on all my previous bikes RT’s and GS’s.

My current bike allows me to change it all while moving, is there a setting in GS911 or something to change this or have I simply always been wrong? When I’m home I will take a read in the manual but thought I would ask.

I thought the same too, although last time I switched it to "off road 2 mountains" mode when stationary with the engine on, the bike grew two inches taller and I coudn't touch the ground. I haven't worried about it since. I do use the soft / normal / hard setting quite a bit though.

Yes, yesterday I could definitely change between the lot whilst riding. Odd..

The damping can be adjusted on the move as you say but have never been able to adjust the ride height / pre-load on the move.
It seems to be speed sensitive if moving at slow walking speed it will adjust.
I have to use the height / pre-load a lot as senior management can`t get on the bike unless it is on the low setting then have to raise it before setting off.

I’m wondering which sensor it uses to disable the ride height on the move?

On GS911 I have no warnings or anything but I can definitely change from single rider to two or the two high hills at 60mph

Very odd, at least I’m not mad the other bikes I had to be at a stop..

My 09 I have to be stopped. Bizarre the way these things are configured.

Oddly on my 2014 gsa the esa became switchable on the fly when it was faulty and failing

I wouldn't think that there is a separate speed sensor for the ESA. I suspect that it's the ECU having a digital hiccup.
