Following a previous post from David Hale recommending Essential Rubber in Hackney I gave them a try.

Top result. Why I have never been there before I cannot imagine. Five minutes from Liverpool Street Station.

Anyone who works in the City or there abouts give them a try. They get busy (mostly couriers dropping in) but prices are very competitive and they are a friendly crew. No glitz or gloss, just a very good deal. Give them a call.

agree, have been using them for three years, great guys.

Get there for 8am, otherwise you could be in for a long wait

I used them for a fair while when I lived in North London. They are a good crew, who know their stuff and their prices are competitive. They made one cock up when fitting a front tyre to my Triumph (it was fitted the wrong way round) but unlike some businesses who will try and wriggle out of their responsibility, they put their hands up, apologised for their mistake and sorted it out.:thumb2

I have moved out to Hertfordshire so they are a bit far away to just pop in like I was able to do before ( and I have been fortunate to find a supplier just down the road from me who is good too) but I would heartily recommend them.

Glad they are doing well!

I remember mick setting up the Tyre place back in 2000/2001. He had a fantastic attitude to customer service, which is more than could be said for his neighbours in the bike workshop. So he took them over and it seems he is having the success he deserves. Watching him change a tyre it seemed that he always took as much care of the bike as you would yourself. There is no higher praise.

Glad he got a recommendation here. Shame I am now working in South London where there is no equal.

Nigel.

Nigel.

I remember Mick when he used to work at Universal Tyres in Philip Lane, Tottenham under the infamous Tom. I suspect he learnt how not to treat the customer from watching Tom in action and he has put that into practice very well with his own business.

Who are you recommending in Hertfordshire, Bob?

Thanks,

John

John,

I've been using Tekmotive in Welham Green to good effect, though I have recently been getting some tyres from Ebay. Universal Tyres in Dunstable trade as Round & Black on Ebay and I got 2 rear and 1 front Avon Azaro for my K1200S for £195 delivered. I got a back tyre fitted to a loose wheel at Predator Exhausts in Welwyn Garden City for £10. I also just got a pair of V rated Tourances through Ebay for £112 delivered!

Agree with everything said about Essential rubber.

I have also been using Tekmotive in Welham Green for years as they are only 5 minutes away.

I have used Essential Rubber before and they were very friendly and the price could not be matched by any of my local tyre fitters.

Essential Rubber are my local tyre dealers and I've been using them for the last 5-years. Very good and competitive prices too.
Only one cock-up when they jammed the speedo drive on a Triumph Sprint ST - got as far a Highbury Corner before realising the speedo wasn't working :augie - took it back and they apologised and fixed it.
Highly recommended though they can get very busy at times - take a newspaper and join the queue.
