EUR 90 lighter in the wallet department.....

Of course! A good copper, even a French one should never get wet - its the law! :)

I am heading into St Malo then off down to Massif Central across and back up via Belgium, inspired by your jaunt last year. The weather is looking 'iffy' throughout the whole of Europe, but fingers crossed that it might improve.

Enjoy your forthcoming trip, hope the weather holds for you as well.... :thumb

Have fun :thumb2

I love French and its brevity.

That one simple word of just five letters, translates as:

"En-y-on-ee-on, monsieur, you are caught the rouge handed and we can relieve you of your money toute de suit and now please to make ze bending over, vite mon brave, salut and chin-chin"

and make sure you all have your personal breathalisers with you next weekend.... Including pillions if they have a bike licence...

I should have added that it was a touch damp on Sunday in the Pas de Calais region, too.

Bright and sunny where plod were standing though. I suspect they might have been less zealous with the application of the Highway Cod (as he called it) had it been hammering down....:D

The weather looked nice Richard, when i rode up on Thursday afternoon on the A25 to Lille, it was without doubt the worst wind and rain combined that i have ever rode in, scary even at 50mph, i had to do that speed for fear of getting rammed from behind  no not like that :rob

Went past there Saturday morning on a 500 mile trip to Arromanche and back, weather was a bit harsh in places :augie

Looks like ideal weather for highway cod.

The law as interpreted by the Perfecture here in the Correze is simply ONE (1) brethalyser complete and unused per vehicle - lets not blow this out of proportion.

Imagine a coach party being stopped and everyone with a license being expected to produce one

picture of the one I carry cost 1€10c from Leclerc :thumb

@ WAPPING, I am guessing they did not ask you to produce a Breathalyser?

You guess quite right.

"Papiers, monsieur" was the only request. I gave him the bike's V5 and my passport.

I am not sure he actually knew what each were. There again, I'm sure yer average British plod would not necesarily recognise a French carte gris.

He didn't ask for my licence or insurance. The last one that did I presented with my renewal invitation. He was quite happy.

I think Sunday's plod assumed my V5 was the insurance document. He seemed overjoyed when I pointed out that the printed numberplate number matched the plastic yellow thing hung off the back mudguard.

PS I will avoid buying anything that calls itself Turdus, when chosing something to put into my mouth.
