Europe recovery

Try a search in the Travel section, loads of tips and several threads there.

In the meantime, AA gets my vote. An annual multi-trip Breakdoown cover. Have tested it out both in a car and on a bike. First class service.

I also buy the AA's annual multi-trip Travel Insurance policy. Have also tested this out, once. First class service.

You get a discount if you buy both policies and if you are a member of the AA in the UK.

PS Do not forget that most Breakdown covers DO NOT cover recovery of your bike should you be unfortunate enough to be involved in an accident. This is simply because an accident is not a breakdown. The first question you may well be asked are the details of your insurer, who (of course) will only be interested if you have Comprehensive cover. The Breakdown insurer will then, quite possibly, help you to recover your accident damaged bike (even though they are not obliged to) and then recover the costs from your motor insurer ie. add it to your claim.

PPS From a sad thread you may have seen on this site, it is very important that you check the details of any policies you buy. One thing to check is that you are insured to ride a motorcycle with a cubic capacity of greater than 125cc.

Well, there is that one.

However, this year at renewal time, a combined bike insurance and breakdown cover policy worked out best value.

(Aside to squid, do you think Chris has worked out how to use the search button yet?)

You give me too much credit, I get to £59 as I had a UK + Euro policy on my car which can be transfered at any time to another vehicle - so I did.

Its with Euro assist.

Now your going to tell me I should have done a search?

No. I've used that one too. I'm just being a bit silly tonight. Winding down with a nice Chilean after spending all weekend marooned at work. 48 hours on duty with three teenagers: cabin fever doesn't begin to describe the experience.

I've been banging on about the Europ Assistance policy for yonks - buy through quotelinedirect.co.uk - best value standalone breakdown policy

Carole Nash include European cover with their bike insurance.

Last renewal my premium seemed a bit high, phoned around for a better quote, told Carole Nash I would not be renewing and 'surprise' they found a way of bettering the lower quote - and I got the Euro cover.

Try the german AA, known as ADAC, they'll do you full europe and uk, was £87 for my car incl everything
