Strange thing happened today.

Pulled up outside a customers, got off and went inside. Employee of customer goes out for a fag. When he comes back in he say 'Andy, the sidelight's on on your bike'. 'Oh, ok I say' wondering if I'd turned the key back to the park position before pulling it out.

Finished the job and went out to the bike and was suprised to see the instrument panel lit up with the neutral light on (still no key in the ignition). Put the key in and switched ignition on to be greeted with the ews warning flashing and the bike wouldn't start.

Cycled the ignition a few times and eventually the ews warning went off and the bike started.

Got to the next customer's and went to turn the ignition off to find turning and removing the key didn;t turn the ignition off or stop the engine. I had to stop the engine using the kill switch. The ignition and neutral light stayed on though the bike wouldn't restart until I put the key back in.

It does this intermittently now.

Oh well, it's booked in at coopers tomorrow...

I saw another post like this before. Seems like it was a stripped connector between the locking mechanism and the actual ignition switch, or something like that. :nenau

it sounds like the two micro switchs in the little housing at the key base are sticking. a bit of wd40 should do the trick.
