I recently purchased a 2001 (Y registered) B.M.W. R1150GS (purchased privately). As I was so excited about getting this bike of my dreams, I didn't notice that parts of the rubber casing surrounding the wiring loom, was beginning to perish. I emailed B.M.W via the Motorad homepage, and very quickly received an email by return informing me that although the bike was outside the manufacturers warranty, I should take it to my nearest B.M.W dealership to be inspected.
The staff at Clarks B.M.W of Rednall (Birmingham) were exceptionally helpful, and after examining the perished rubber, contacted B.M.W's head office on a Monday morning. By the lunchtime of the same day, the dealer contacted me to inform me that although the bike was out of the warranty period, a complete new wiring loom, would be ordered, and fitted as soon as I could book the bike in for the repair work (Which was to take three days and cost God knows how much!).
I have never before encountered such excellent service (having previously owned numerous Japanese bikes - GPZ1100, ZX6, ZX9, ZZR1100, ZX12, ZRX1100, and CBR1100XXX - to name a few!). but I have never been afforded this level of customer care before.
I can only praise both the manufacturer and the dealer, as we are too often very quick to criticise, but not praise good service.
