I have just picked up a virtually new Cat for my 1150. I would to do a straight swap for my current tarnished Cat. Nothing fancy.
I am concerned about the lambda sensor and what effect its removal and re fitting will have on the engine running. Should I worry?
What I have read in the repair manual is two slighly disconcerting lines.
Line 1) Secure the oxygen sensor with special socket
wrench insert, BMW No. 11 7 020.
Whats so special about this socket?
Line 2) Caution:
After a trial run, read out Motronic fault memory.
Note position of wiring for oxygen sensor.
I am not sure what the above is pertaining to!
I have picked up off this forum that the lambda sensor can ruin your day. So I just wanted to cover all bases before I swap the Cat over.
