Exhaust differences

Had a search but cann't seem to find a definitive answer.

I am going to try and get hold of a pre twin cam aftermarket silencer and fit it to a twin cam.

The rear mounting brackets look the same on all bikes but is there a difference in the diameter of the pipe after the exhaust flap in comparison to the diameter of pipe on an earlier bike where it exits the cat ?

I know someone local who can make up a new link pipe or shorten the pipe and alter its fitting but need to know what are the differences ?

I have a pre twin can for sale on here at the moment.

I'm told all you need to fit it to a twin cam, is a short pipe to connect the two as the pre twin link pipe is shorter.

No doubt someone will be along to say differently if I'm wrong

Because you can get earlier aftemarket silencers for a damned sight less than twin cam ones and I do not intend to blow shed loads of money if I decide to change back

Ive got the flapper valve off my bike at the mo as I have a Full Akrapovic twin end can system on it no fault codes on dash so all good

I could probably be persuaded to go out to the garage at some point in the near future, remove the Akrapovic from my twin cam and offer up the Titanium Remus Revolution which I just happen to have for sale. Of course, a certain fit could probably be guaranteed by purchasing the Remus headers which I also have for sale. In fact, the whole lot could be had for significantly less than the price of a new Akrapovic can for a twin cam......

Pre twin cam exhaust systems will fit twin cam bikes but they wont have fittings for the flap valve. If you want to keep the flap valve you will need a different header and link pipe both are shorter with gap filled by the valve. Probably an older system could be cut down to insert the flap valve. Its not rocket science for a pipe specialist, but Ive not seen any threads covering the idea.

The RHS (Adv) side case frame is 110 or maybe 115mm away from the tyre so there is enough space to fit a 100mm silencer and pair of RHS cases. That avoids the afterthought cut out LHS side case. Rear wheel removal wont be an issue because its only located on a narrow flange.

I would probably do this on my bike, but I have an Akraprovic Ti system (2-1-2) with two stacked mufflers which makes cutting and shutting just a tad more difficult. This is a complete system. The ends are not interchangeable as with other systems.
