I need to use this site more, loads of info on here.
Would an after market end can from a 2006 GS fit my 2010 GS (twin cam) without having a detrimental effect on performance?

It won't fit at all unless you remove the exhaust flap valve and have some kind of replacement pipe made up. It's unlikely to affect the performance one way or another.

Replace exhaust flap noise control valve.

You should check out NippyNormans.com. They sell a stainless steel pipe produced by Wunderlich which eliminates the noise control valve which should help your end can fit. When you go on to the website Use the choose bike option and it should bring up 24 pages of products. The pipe you are looking for is on page 21. I hope that helps.

Is there any difference between the pre flappy and post flappy endcan?

Full systems from the earlier bikes will drop straight onto the twin cam bikes. But as they don't have the flappy valve, the pipe bends after the Y joint might be different. A late model end can may well not fit an early model header even with a pipe extension.
