Exhaust fitment

I have got a bit carried away and bought a Akrapovic end can off a 2008 GS for my 2010 GS.
I got another tosser to collect it for me (thank you) but I didn't think to ask if it would fit a 2010.

Does anyone know if the BMW Akrapovic end can off a 2008 will fit a 2010?

Do you need the exhaust valve?
Manufacturers have been known to fit them to pass type approval noise tests and then claim they improve performance to cover the fact they get noisy after it opens.
