Even the 1150 changed over it's lifetime, on my 02 GS the exhaust pipes went a nice blue, 05 GSA they went more of the shitty straw colour you see on the 1200's.

Maybe, my 100GS with stainless pipes initially turns a nice blue a few inches from the exhaust nut and this then goes straw coloured, which would agree with that link.
