Hello

My two exhaust pipes will probably need replacement in a near future. They are rotten and I already weld them so avoid more expenses.

The originals are made in carbon steel and with a balance pipe.

Most of the pipes that I see are now in stainless steel and with out balance pipes.

The main disadvantage in using Stainless steel is that it’s not so good to dissipate heat. (but look better)
Carbon Steel: 5,5 W / °C x m2
Stainless Steel: 3,6 W / °C x m2

:rob

And the balance pipes? Are they useful or nor?

Should I try to find the original design or should I go for the “normal” aftermarket options?

Thanks

Those balance pipes were put there for a reason. You will have endless problems setting the carbs up properly without it unless you have access to dyno and other fancy equipment to get it right. For the diy spanner wielding person I would stick with something original to save yourself headache in the future :thumb2
