Reliving bike trips whilst sat at my desk....
Two quick questions to you lot:

1. If I am replacing the end-can, does exhaust paste have to be used?

2. If I keep the standard can and replace the cat with a Y piece, will running be greatly affected and does the sound improve somewhat (obviously not the way it would with a straight through race can...)

Cheers

1) Not if it fits properly!

2) Not greatly. Bit more grunt perhaps, but not shattering - don't expect it to transform the bike. Sounds a bit more meaty, again not shattering, but a bit more throaty. Saves a bit of weight, which is obviously crucial on the slender featherweight that is the 1150.

Instead of exhaust paste. which is a right bugger to remove, use silicone bathroom sealant at the join of pipe to silencer. Most silencers I.ve seen (not sure about aftermarket ones though) have a lead sealing ring - although that's probably banned these days!
