Hi all
New to riding a new 1200gs my exhaust seems to have a rattle it can be heard if I rev the engine at standstill not sure if it gets worse on the move
Also not sure if its the way I am riding (still new) but bike sometimes backfires approaching islands junctions ect

First thing to check is that all of the clips around the joins on the exhaust are tight and in the right places (i.e. over the joint). If you've got a loose one somewhere it could be the cause of both your problems.

Thanks for the reply i should of said in the first plase the rattle seems to be coming from inside the can. cant find any loose clips ect

Me too

Mine pops on the overrun a bit. It was irritating at first, but now I miss it when it doesn't do it. You get it if you use engine braking from high revs, but open the throttle just a mm or two.

Don't have a rattle that I know of, other than the normal engine ticking noises.

Meatwagon, they all do that. The silencer is trying to contain the big, resonant pulses and this sounds like a rattle. They all pop on the over run.dont worry.

Remus downpipes and Akrapovic is what you need to get the popping even more :-)
