Hi all, After fitting my full exhaust system i'm worried leaving the bike anywhere with the exhaust hanger bolt thats on it at the moment. Its just a standard bolt. I cant see anything on the touratech/nippy sites for a security bolt to give me a bit more piece of mind?

Thanks

I remember the last time I stole an exhaust, the fool left it only secured with an ordinary bolt and I happened to have a pair of tweezers which had the bolt cut in half within two minutes.

You have been warned................:augie

Last time I stole an exhaust.....................I burnt my fingers:blast

Biker had only nipped in for a paper and I got caught handling hot goods:augie

If your going to leave the bike for more than 30 minutes I would remove the exhaust to be safe :D

Exhaust theft common in your manor:nenau

its starting to get fecking embarassing owning a 1200 round here, someones going to steal my exhaust?whatever next i dread to think, come back rasher all is forgiven:D

No worries just use your common sense!... just take a 2/12lb ball pein hammer to it before you leave your bike anywhere..no fcuker gonna buy it or use it then!!!:thumb2

I'm gonna take my down the Blacksmiths first thing in the morning and have the exhaust welded to the bike! I had no idea there were so many exhaust thieves out there. Once it's fully welded up I'll be able to sleep again.:augie

I'm afraid you asked for it fella......you must live in one hell of a dodgy manor.

Somebody near here had the front callipers nicked off a Kawasaki (I think)... so why stop at the exhaust ?

:augie

If you "empty" the "full" exhaust when you stop the engine it loses its value to a thief so it won't get stolen. You then only need to worry about the loss of residual value to your bike and how much depreciation you have on the exhaust.

I'm going to get Vern to knock a few security bolts up. There must be a gap in the market I reckon:D
I reckon there will be a gap to the left of the rear wheel.

I don't think he'd be stopping anywhere....

Seriously, a cheap work around is to use a normal allen headed bolt to secure the exhaust, then hammer a small ball bearing into the allen key hole.

I saw a 'thief' carrying a GS 'can' complete with cat up a steep hill.......I must say he looked pretty exhausted!

Boom Tish.....I thankyou!!:bow

Some kids were asking me the other day where to get some sand for a GS's engine as someone from this manor had failed to fit a locking TT oil filler cap and they were in for it....!

I'll get my coat:blast

FP.

didnt think it was that stupid a request:confused: i was thinking more along the lines of a £500 titanium silencer able to be removed in a minute with a torx key and a 13mm spanner.

is there really no need to worry?
