Hi All,

I've embarked on my first modification and decided that I'd like a new exhaust.

I've got a Remus Decat, and a Remus, end can.

I removed the old exhaust with little issue, and got the decat on, again with no real problem.

I'm hitting a snag with the end can. It doesn't sit straight!! It feels as if its pivoting on the mount thats on the pillion footpeg, and as a result is touching the pannier frame (I have the aluminium adventure panniers)

I've worked out that I can space the exhaust out on the mount in question by about 10mm, which brings it away from the pannier, and makes it sit straighter, but is this an acceptable solution??

Any thoughts?

Thanks

Steve

You should be able to line it up without a spacer. Try loosening the lower clamps and wiggling it about if you get what I mean.

The clamp between the can and the Y piece is loose.
It feels as if the exit from the T piece is pushing the can out at a funny angle. I can adjust that but then then the metal bar in the bottom of the Y piece wont line up with the bolt holes!!!

Never simple is it!

Using a spacer on the pillion peg mounting bolt is absolutely fine. That's how I've had mine fitted for years and no problems so far.

Y Piece and Remus Race can is fairly noisy - enjoy:thumby:

Remap or PC next closely followed by a set of aftermarket shocks and you'll be all set:)

Might help if you state which model?

Scrub that. It is obviously an 1150 as it has a Y piece:blast

I've got a Techlusion to go on. Not as smart as a PC or a remap but will do for now I hope!!

If it's any consolation, when I fitted a Motad y-piece, my (OE) silencer did not 'want' to be parallel with the bike anymore. At first it was so bad it was almost touching the (again, OE) pannier.
My fix was to loosen everything off and using a rubber strapped (I know) filter wrench, rotate the silencer into more or less a correct position. It's still closer to the pannier than before but it's ok.

Thanks everyone

Got it right by using a spacer, and refitting it all.
Seems to fit quite well now, and yes, its loud!!!

Whip your plugs out after 500 miles or so and see what colour they are :thumb2

epron chip

HI fit a epron chip in your cdi go:s great with the remus hads about 9 hp gives your bike bit more mid rang
I have it all on my 1150 and it runs great good luck billywizz SORRY YOU CAN GET ONE ON EBAY

Alignment issues like this also happen if the Y-piece isn't lined up correctly as the front ie where it joins the header pipes. By the time you get to the rearmost point, it can be a couple of centimetres out of line.

Greetings All,

Hope you don't mind me hijacking this thread???

Ive just today got around to putting my Y piece on, together with a Sebring end can. It is loud. BUT………

It isn't running quite right at the moment. It seems to hesitate a little low down, when going back on the throttle. It pulls well after about 3k though.

Do I need to be concerned??? or will it just take a few miles on the clock before the Lambda / ECU relearns / adjusts the settings?

Cheers

ps Ive just given it a full service and it was running absolutely fine both before and after. (I rode it to my friends workshop to change the exhaust and Y piece over).

I would adjust valves, balance throttle bodies, reset tpm etc etc.

Hi Canuck, thanks for the response.

Ive done the valve clearances with the full service. I didn't balance the throttle bodies though, or reset the TPM, but it was running fine on the way to the workshop to swap over the exhaust systems.
