Although my new Hilleberg would easily swallow up the Thermarest camp bed, the height of it & the loft of my sleeping bag would soon meet with the sloping back of the tent.

All I can say is my 7cm Downmat is superb & the Megamat is only going to be bigger, better & tougher ... 5 year warranty too! :thumby:

thanks bod
I seem to remember some people had problems with the thermarest ultralite destroying their tent footprints
sleeping mat it is then!

Mega mat is a brilliant bit of kit but bloody bulky on the back of the bike. Saying that, best sleep I've ever had camping!

My Megamat turned up yesterday!
Seriously big & proper comfy.
I'm glad I went for the thinner mat and it's still better than my bed if the truth were known.

The Downmat will still be my first choice when weight/space is an issue, but for the many car camping trips it will be the big red magic carpet! :beerjug:

Got mine today (a MM10). OK - so got it out out of the stuff sack and unrolled it and pulled the left plug (the IN valve I believe) and ensured the right plug (the OUT valve I believe) and waited for the sucking noise. Nothing. According to this vid....

.... the mat needs to be unrolled and the foam allowed to grow for 24 hours. In the video however he pulls the rip cord and a distinct sucking sound is heard :green gri whereas nothing is heard from mine and its still flat as a pancake after 5 hours.

Is there something I should be doing to the mat?

Mine was the same & I had to use the pump ... but that didn't take long at all.
But after leaving it inflated for 24 hours, it now semi inflates itself quite well. :thumb
Something to do with the foam inside the mat I think?

OK, pumped the bleeder up. Shame I can't use my lungs as that little pump took an age :)

Will leave it inflated for a day or two and see how it goes.

Cheers Bodski

The more you use them the more they seem to self inflate....if that makes sense
