Machineart Moto mudsling :blast So I read the reviews, hugger vs mudsling. Clearly the forum likes the mudsling but what an after thought with cable ties. :blast:blast:blast ok whinge over.

Mudsling is a top bit of kit. I'm with outtomunch, what's wrong with cable ties? Plus I cannot see another way of holding it in place and you don't want that piece of plastic coming off once on the move.

What's wrong with cable ties?

Andres

Yep agree, functionally great, but a nice bit of engineering would better suit a well engineered bike would it not? Or at least something hidden.

I would be more worried about the cable ties wearing straight through the frame paint , I used some clear protective tape around the frame rails where the Mudslinger and the cable ties are (on my 2014 gsa putting in plastic frame bungs chipped the subframe paint !!!!)

If your not happy with cable ties then use you imagination.

Remove the riders seat have a look at the under tray and where is accessible, offer the mudsling up and Mark 2 pilot holes in the mudsling, drill 2 - 5mm holes evenly spaced in the mudsling, offer it up again and Mark the undertray (if you cannot get a drill in use a hot driver warmed via a naked flame) refit mudsling and fit 2 M5 button head bolts, as per what I did, looks a lot better.

I don't see what the problem is.:nenau

Would you prefer to drill into the frame?

Much better idea. thanks Ding Dong. I guess the cable tie is just to make it super simple. I don't mind spending the time to do a proper job.

Just found this video of the hugger. That really helped my decision as it doesn't work so well for a lot extra cash. :blast:blast

I'm with you on this one I've not got one as I think they are way to expensive for a bit of plastic, and what an after thought held on with cable ties no thanks.

If you don't want the ties showing, fit it dry and mark the frame and inner mudguard contact areas, thoroughly clean, then apply a bead of PU adhesive/sealant,
secure with the cable ties overnight then cut them off, it won t , come unstuck and will seal the join where all the mud gets past,
I have secured fender extenders car mudflaps and lots of other stuff with it, no screws or ties does look neater, But its a super easy fit with ties,
caravan or bodyshop suppliers sell it, one brand is sikaflex, it dries flexible but very strong hold,

I fitted the puig hugger and the mudsling, belt n braces I no but at least it kept my flip flops clean.

It's an Adventure bike, cable ties are great engineering, and perfect for the job.
