Took my 1250gs in for 6k service (18 month old) had updates and recall items done at same time . Rode off got 50 yards down road spring strut adjustment fault came on tft returned to dealer to be told its normal after software update and the bike has to connect to satellites before the fault will correct its self , rode a few miles home stopping 4 times but fault kept returning .
Bearing in mind my bike does not have SOS is it possible for it to send and receive data via satellite ???.
Also when they change the brake fluid is it done through the bleed nipples as no sign of fluid in any nipples to indicate it has been bled ..

Sounds a bit odd

The brake bleeding may have done by a very clever machine , that vacuum fills via the reservoir, hence no need to play with bleed nipples

The SOS will get GPS data from satellites, but nothing else. The SOS works by mobile phone.

And if you don’t have an SOS, why would the bike have any wireless connection at all?

Also, no vacuum machine can remove fluid from the calipers.If theres no fluid evident on the nipples, theyve not changed it.Good for the mechanics bonus.Bad for you.

The new recall updates according to dealer only effects certain settings and connectivity issues .

Basically you have to reconnect your phone to the tft and reset your favoured Enduro Pro settings , sounds like in your case the dealer is talking bollocks

BMW offers no update through satellites, not in their cars, not in their bikes. The only satellite sinal processed is, as allready mentioned, the GPS receiver for the SOS system, and this is position and time signal only.
BMW do offer 'Over the Air Upgrades, but they are using the phone-system and it requires a SIM card in the vehicle. It's currently used in cars only...

As for no fluid in the bleed nipples after a brake fluid change, this is normal.
The proceduer for changing/bleeding the brake fluid is to use a vacuum bleeder. This means that you use a vacuum hose that connects to the bleed nipple, activate the suction and then opens the bleed nipple. At the end you close the bleed nipple befor turning of the suction, thus, any fluid left-overs will be sucked from the nipple and it is bone dry after completed procedure...

There will always be some evidence of human engagement with a bleed nipple.
They reliably inform me now that they have a machine which will perform an entire bleed via the master cylinder with no need to open the bleed nipple. Logic and physics says thats impossible and I've still got to be convinced otherwise.

I have to agree not that I am a mechanic but how can it all be done via the Master cylinder, I understand using a vacuum pump / device but surely that would need to be from the bleed nipple pulling the new fluid in. Interesting to know how they do it otherwise ....

It is typical in car (and presumably bike) factories to bleed brakes from the master cylinder, all the air in the system is extracted, and when a sufficient vacuum is created, the fluid is allowed in.

Once you have the system filled, you cannot do that as it is necessary to create a bubble in the fluid by application of a vacuum - effectively to boil it - and whilst it is unlikely that it could happen at all, it could happen anywhere, not necessarily in the slave cylinders - so you might extract 1% or 100% of the fluid. And given that brake fluid is intended not to boil...
