extended test rides?

ok - toying with moving away from race bikes and getting an 1150gs (had a look at the vfr, but it was very dull).

My main problem is that the standard 1 hour'ish test ride isn't really enough time to get an idea of whether the bike right given that I'm looking to do more distance and touring type stuff. Caterham, for example, will "hire" you a demo 7 for a weekend for a couple of hunderd quid - the thought being that a 7 is probably such a leap from your average mondeo owner that a 30 minute test drive isnt going to tell you much.

So, anyone know of either a dealer or bike hire type place that would lend an 1150 for a day or two? I'm serious enough to pay for the privelege - £200 for a couple of days is worth it on a 10K bike.

Have you tried South London motorcycles in Caterham? They let me play on the GS for around 3 hours just on the basis that I turned up. I'm guessing if you ask nicely they may give an extended ride.

thanks - seems like folk will stretch to one day, which i guess is very good. It's a shame that you cant hire the things for a longer period...
